Electronic Document Management: Challenges, Solutions, and EU Integration

The publication Deals has released an article summarizing a workshop focused on electronic document management (EDM). Participants, including representatives from the banking and IT sectors, discussed the legal foundations of EDM, practical implementation aspects in enterprises, and the storage of electronic documents. Particular attention was given to challenges posed by outdated regulations and anticipated changes in the context of European integration.

A key area of European integration changes is an experimental project involving the mutual recognition of qualified electronic signatures between Ukraine and the European Union. Its full implementation by the end of 2024 is expected to significantly simplify foreign economic activities for Ukrainian businesses, ensuring the continuous use of electronic signatures in international transactions.

The use of electronic archives remains a relevant issue, with their importance amplified by wartime challenges affecting the preservation and accessibility of paper documents. Electronic archives offer a secure storage space, prompt access, and process automation. Implementing EDM requires a phased approach: selecting a system, training personnel, and developing internal regulatory documents that consider the company’s specifics.
